Warrington Rylands

Bob

Our first game on the road this year was Warrington Rylands yesterday evening, and the board members at Gorsey Lane didn’t hesitate to say Bob’s name when asked the question. Unfortunately, Bob was on the turnstiles when we arrived, (of course!) so we didn’t get much of a chance to chat until after the game. I had the pleasure of bumping into him in the clubhouse after he had finished his duties for the day, and he echoed our own thoughts in that there are some fantastic volunteers around the non-league game at the moment, but just not enough. An individual can be responsible for so many things on a match day, and lots of small jobs that people often don’t even realise need doing. Scott Bruton and John Donnely presented Bob with a custom "Volunteers Matter" shirt in recognition of his hard work at Warrington Rylands.

Here at Ashton United, so many aspects of our football club and charity arm, Ashton United in the Community, rely heavily on volunteers. If you are able to get down to your local club and help out, even if just for an hour or so, we know that they would massively appreciate it. If you can’t, just take a moment on a match day to thank one of the volunteers who made the whole day possible, it means more than you could imagine.

Ashton United, the Supporter’s Club, and AUITC will always continue to support the fantastic work carried out by volunteers around the country that help to bring us the beautiful game.
